In total, four officials ruled Podolsk in Russian history. Alexander Nikulin became the mayor, smoothly moving to this status from the chairmen of the executive committee of the City Council — he took this post back in 1990. Nikulin led Podolsk until 2003. In the spring he resigned: even then the official was seriously ill. And in the fall of the same year, Nikulin died.

Alexander Fokin became the new head of Podolsk. And a huge criminal scandal is associated with the name of this head. Two years later, it turned out that during the election campaign, Fokin ordered the murder of his main competitor, at that time the first deputy head of the city administration, Pyotr Zabrodin. He was shot in June 2002. Fokin was arrested in 2005, but he did not live to see the trial — he committed suicide in a pre-trial detention center.

Nikolai Pestov was in charge of Podolsk for the longest time — from 2006 to 2022. After him, Dmitry Zharikov took the helm of the city, who passed away tonight.
