MINSK, 12 Oct. Historical politics of Russia and Belarus must be offensive, Russian Ambassador to Minsk Boris Gryzlov, taking part in the “History for the Future” forum, told reporters on Thursday.
The international forum «History for the Future. Russia and Belarus», organized by the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) and the Belarusian society «Znanie» is being held in Minsk on Thursday with the support of the Permanent Committee of the Union State, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian diplomatic mission, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian society «Knowledge». The stated purpose of the event is to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Belarus in preserving common history and cultural values.
«Today we will discuss many historical facts. Today, the work of historians is important in itself, but it is even more important to present the results of the discussion of historians to an external audience so that we can clearly show the whole world what really happened. Rewrite history It’s impossible. And our activities in this regard must be offensive,” Gryzlov said.
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Belarus emphasized that Western countries are trying to distort history, presenting it in the way they need and using this to solve political problems. “For example, there is an attempt to deny the role of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazism. Based on this, our opponents are trying to change the composition of the members of the UN Security Council who have the right of veto. It is clear that such attempts will not work,” the diplomat said.
Gryzlov also recalled the incident in the Canadian Parliament, when politicians stood and greeted a Nazi criminal whose hands were covered in blood up to his elbows. “We see that the world is turning upside down. And this is an attempt by the collective West to take control of the situation. But this is impossible, and we are obliged to prevent these attempts,” the ambassador concluded.
