In Moscow, a 31-year-old man was detained on suspicion of publicly justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code), reports the telegram channel of the capital’s Department of the Investigative Committee. According to SHOT, the detainee is MMA fighter from Chechnya Ilyas Yakubov.
The security forces write that the reason for the persecution was a video that the man published on his social networks in October. The Chertanovsky District Court of Moscow will choose a preventive measure for him.
It is unknown what specific video we are talking about. In the summer, the Mash telegram channel wrote that the Investigative Committee was going to check Yakubov because of a video from a training session, on which Shamil Basayev’s monologue was superimposed. In it, the field commander says that the Chechens “can be defeated, but cannot be conquered.”
As the authors of Mash reported, a statement against the MMA fighter was then written by the head of the organization “Army of Fatherland Defenders” Ivan Otrakovsky.
