The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, commented on the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport and “authorized” the Chechen security forces to shoot at the protesters if unrest breaks out in the republic. A video from a meeting of the regional government was published on its Telegram channel.
“If we have even one person going to unsanctioned riots, detain and imprison him. Or fire three warning shots in the air and after that, if the person does not comply with the law, fire the fourth shot in the forehead. They won't come out anymore. This is my order,” Kadyrov said in Chechen, a translation of his words is provided by RIA Novosti and Chechnya Today.
After the start of a new war between Israel and Hamas, anti-Semitic protests began in the North Caucasus. On the evening of October 29, hundreds of people with Palestinian flags stormed Makhachkala airport after a plane arrived there from Tel Aviv.
According to the latest data, 20 people were injured in clashes with security forces. The day before, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that 83 riot participants were detained. The authorities explain the pogrom at the airport and other anti-Semitic actions by “intervention of Western intelligence services.”
