The Central Election Commission of Moldova refused to allow Russian observers to work during the elections

VIENNA, 31 Oct. The Central Election Commission of Moldova refused to allow a number of Russian observers as part of the monitoring mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to observe local elections in Moldova, the Russian Permanent Mission to the OSCE reported.
“As the local elections in Moldova approach on November 5, the leadership of this OSCE participating state is increasing the number of politicized adventures with openly anti-Russian background. This time we are talking about the refusal of the country's Central Election Commission, without specifying reasons, to accredit a number of Russian short-term observers as part of the Bureau's monitoring mission OSCE on Democratic Institutions and Human Rights,” the Permanent Mission said in a statement.

The Russian side recalled that members of the bureau's international teams do not act in a personal or national capacity, but as international experts.

“We demand that the Moldovan authorities return to conscientiously fulfilling their obligations in the electoral sphere, and the leadership of the ODIHR take urgent measures to rectify the situation,” stated representatives of the permanent mission of the Russian Federation.
Elections in Moldova are scheduled for November 5, residents of the country will elect leaders of localities. The country will hold presidential elections in 2024, and parliamentary elections in 2025.
