VIENNA, 4 Nov. The Austrian government has closed the Russian embassy in Vienna has the opportunity to participate in official events, said Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky.
“The Austrian government has closed the possibility for us to fully participate in any official events. We continue to actively use mechanisms for communicating the Russian position on fundamental issues through diplomatic channels, and, if necessary, undertake demarches in various formats. But this cannot be called a full-fledged political dialogue.” , said the ambassador.
According to him, the key point is that for this purpose the Russian side with Vienna today completely lacks a substantive agenda. “There is no need to repeat that this is not our choice,” the diplomat clarified.
At the same time, he clarified that the Russian Embassy, of course, maintains contacts with the Austrian authorities, primarily through the Foreign Ministry. “But they are more of a formal nature and, by and large, come down to a discussion of the technical problems of ensuring the functioning of Russian representative offices in Austria in the current difficult conditions,” explained Lyubinsky.
