Journalist Roman Badanin was fined 30 thousand rubles for failure to provide a report on the activities of a “foreign agent”

The Chertanovsky District Court of Moscow fined Roman Badanin, editor-in-chief of the Proekt publication, 30 thousand rubles. Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the court.

Badanin was found guilty of failure to provide a report on the activities of a “foreign agent” (Part 2 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code). According to the press service, he did not provide information about foreign funding and bank accounts “used to carry out the activities of a ‘foreign agent’.”

Materials in his administrative case were received by the court on October 12. On the same day, it became known that a similar report had been drawn up against Present Time journalist Elizaveta Surnacheva.

Badanin and four other Project journalists were added to the register of “foreign agents” in July 2021. At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the American Project Media, Inc, the publisher of “Project,” as an “undesirable organization.” In December 2021, the Chertanovsky Court of Moscow fined Badanin 10 thousand rubles for not being labeled as a “foreign agent” on social networks.
