A criminal case was opened against Skochilenko because in March 2022 she changed price tags at the Perekrestok supermarket to pieces of paper with information about the number of victims of the war in Ukraine and calls to stop it. According to investigators, she acted with the aim of promoting a negative assessment of the “special military operation.”

During her last word, Skochilenko made an anti-war speech in which she called on Judge Oksana Demyasheva to “use power wisely” and not put her behind bars , and also called her case “ridiculous.”

Since April 2022, Sasha Skochilenko has been in a pre-trial detention center — during this time, the St. Petersburg resident has been repeatedly put under pressure. Her cell is searched more often than other prisoners. In addition, the artist was not given the special nutrition she needed due to celiac disease, and were often taken to meetings for the whole day, which is why she did not have time to eat in the isolation ward.

Previously, in addition to celiac disease, Skochilenko was diagnosed with several diseases: a cyst in the right ovary, PTSD and heart disease. Despite this, a certificate from the pre-trial detention center was added to the case materials, which states that the defendant “can follow the stage.” The document bears the name of the nurse who allegedly examined the artist. At the same time, according to Skochilenko, she did not see a nurse with that name and no one examined her in the pre-trial detention center.
