Columnist Peter van Buren in an article for The American Conservative (TAC) stated that the end of the conflict in Ukraine will be the liberation of new territories by Russia.
According to van Buren, the terms of the settlement of the conflict in the country will be dictated to Kiev not only by Washington, but also by Moscow , as in the case of Crimea several years earlier. The columnist believes that the end will be “very sad”, since Russia will likely strengthen its position in the Donbass and Crimea, and will also gain new territories closer to Kyiv. He believes that in total the Russian side will liberate about 20% of the territory of Ukraine.
Van Buren added that against the background of this, Ukraine will have to postpone the implementation of its goal to join NATO. As the observer noted, Washington “set up” Kyiv is exactly the same as it did with other allies, to whom the White House promised support until the “victorious end.” The columnist concluded that Ukraine will face the same defeat as the previous proxy governments supported by the States.
