Head of the Human Rights Council: we need an institute to monitor the work of Google for security

MOSCOW, December 4 Head of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation (HRC) Valery Fadeev proposed creating an institute to monitor the work Google and other companies for the sake of user information security.
“»It is necessary to organize international control over the activities of IT giants (including Google), algorithms and criteria must be open, discussed and approved by international institutions. But first an institute must be created, the task is not easy, there will be serious resistance: this «But private companies, you cannot interfere in the work of private companies. This is wrong — the companies are private, but the Internet is a common good,» Fadeev said at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with members of the Human Rights Council.
According to him, an analogue of this idea is civil aviation, where there are many private companies, but everyone follows international rules, because the main thing is safety.
““It’s the same here, we need to put the user’s information security at the forefront,” he explained.
