ASTANA, December 5 The founder of the Tanuki and Ersh restaurant chains, Alexander Orlov, who was put on the wanted list in mid-November by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that he is in London, reported the Kazakh portal forbes.kz.
Earlier, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow reported that the investigation was asking in absentia to issue a warrant for the arrest of Orlov in a case of causing property damage. According to the court, he is charged with Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing especially large property damage by a group of persons). In mid-November he was put on the wanted list by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“I am now in London. We have just opened our Greek restaurant Gaia here. Very soon we will open a new establishment in Hong Kong,” Orlov said in an interview with the portal.
The restaurateur noted that he considers the claims against him to be unfounded; in his opinion, they are subject to consideration only within the framework of civil law relations. “In the past, I was one of the investors in this project, but had no influence on its operational activities. So I consider the claims against me not entirely justified. However, I can confirm that we actually had a trial on this claim, but it was ongoing in a civil manner for about the last two years. There has never been any talk of any criminal liability, these are purely civil relations,” the portal quotes the businessman.
Orlov shared his confidence that a way out of the current situation will be found and the parties will come to a reasonable solution. “I think that in the near future we will be able to resolve financial disputes, we will not owe anything to anyone and all this will end,” he said.
Orlov is a restaurateur, the founder of the Tanuki chain, he was also the president of the Bulldozer Group holding. General Manager of TanukiFamily Alla Bondarenko said that in June 2022, Orlov sold his shares in all companies related to TanukiFamily brands, and currently “has no relation to the operating or other business activities of the companies.” Orlov is also the founder of a large restaurant holding company Sun Group in Kazakhstan. It includes eight establishments: restaurants Manana, Ryba Pila, Dragonfly, More&More, Lou Lou, Toku, Queen and Orlovskie Bani.
