In Lugansk, a deputy of the occupation People's Council of the LPR, Oleg Popov, died in a car explosion. The Investigative Committee reports this.
A car explosion near the Avangard stadium in Lugansk was reported in the afternoon by the local telegram channel MLNR Live. “Mash in Donbass” wrote without mentioning the source that Popov was in the car. At first it was said that he was wounded, later information appeared about his death.
The Babel publication, citing a source in the SBU, reports that the murder of Popov was an operation of Ukrainian intelligence officers.
The Department of the Investigative Committee for the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic opened a criminal case on terrorism (clause «b» of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code), illegal production (part 1 of article 223.1 of the Criminal Code), acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding and carrying of explosives ( Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code).
Last fall, Russian state media already reported the death of Popov. He later said that his death was staged and «a spy game with the enemy.»
