MOSCOW, December 6 During the debate, the prosecutor's office requested nine years in a maximum security colony for the former chief doctor of the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center hospital, Alexander Kravchenko, for fraud with fake diagnoses , reported in the Preobrazhensky Court of Moscow on Wednesday.
“During the debate between the parties, the state prosecution asks that Kravchenko be sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony and banned for three years from holding positions related to organizational and administrative activities in the healthcare system,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Kravchenko was detained in Moscow in January 2022. According to the investigation, in 2020 to 2021, he received money from arrested and convicted prisoners for medical examinations with the “necessary” result — about the presence of serious illnesses in the prisoners.
These decisions became the basis for further “exemption from punishment and detention of special contingents.” During the preliminary investigation, eight people were identified who were released from the pre-trial detention center as a result of fake diagnoses, the Investigative Committee reported.
Subsequently, according to lawyer Dmitry Roshchin, Kravchenko’s charges were reclassified from bribery to abuse of power. The doctor did not admit his guilt. The defense intends to ask the court for an acquittal.
