The Netherlands resumed purchasing LNG from Russia

In September, the Netherlands resumed purchases of liquefied natural gas from Russia after a three-month break, statistics show.

During this month, Amsterdam purchased 211.5 million cubic meters of Russian hydrocarbons for a total of 109 million euros. As a result, the Netherlands' monthly total imports from Russia increased by 5.3 percent to $410.5 million.

In April, Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten announced the government's work to stop imports of liquefied natural gas gas from Russia, including refusal to sign new contracts this year and the desire to terminate previous agreements. These statements were accompanied by a sharp decrease in imports in May by almost 30 percent, and in June they stopped altogether.

In November, the head of the Ministry of Energy Nikolai Shulginov emphasized that Russia does not refuse energy supplies to the West, remaining a reliable supplier of gas even in the current conditions.
