BERLIN, December 11 Despite talk about If the EU is tired of the Ukrainian conflict, its “freezing” would be a counterproductive step and would have the opposite effect, said German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock.
““Freezing sounds technical, almost sterile. As if with it would come winter peaceful peace and quiet. In fact, freezing the conflict would mean the opposite,” wrote Bärbock in an opinion piece for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to her, the idea of a freeze in Europe is increasingly heard along with words about “fatigue, when some are wondering whether it is time to stop supporting Ukraine.” According to Burbock, a freeze would lead to the deprivation of Ukraine's «sovereignty and identity.»
Earlier, the Guardian newspaper, citing sources, reported that supporters of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will begin a closed two-day meeting in Washington on Monday, during which, together with representatives of the US Republican Party, they will discuss stopping funding for Kyiv.
Moscow has previously repeatedly indicated that it is ready for negotiations, but Kyiv has introduced a ban on them at the legislative level. The West constantly calls on Russia for negotiations, for which Moscow shows readiness, but at the same time the West ignores Kyiv’s constant refusals to engage in dialogue. Earlier, the Kremlin stated that there are currently no prerequisites for the situation in Ukraine to transition to a peaceful direction; the absolute priority for Russia is to achieve the goals of the special operation; at the moment this is only possible through military means. As the Kremlin stated, the situation in Ukraine can move on to a peaceful course, provided that the de facto situation and new realities are taken into account; all Moscow’s demands are well known.
