The Sovetsky District Court of Bryansk placed under house arrest the deputy director of local gymnasium No. 5, whose student opened fire on her classmates on December 7 and then committed suicide. This was reported by the press service of the city courts.
Larisa Katolikova, deputy director for administrative and economic work, is accused of negligence resulting in the death of two people (part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code). As Shot wrote, a 51-year-old school employee suffered from cancer, and her youngest son is fighting in Ukraine. The court allowed her to visit the hospital.
According to investigators, Katolikova performed her duties to monitor compliance with the access control regime “inappropriately.” Baza, citing school employees, wrote that the metal detector was not working due to the installation of a garland in the gymnasium — it was turned off so that “there would be no abnormal operation.”
“As a result, a high school student brought a hunting rifle into the building, from which she shot at her classmates,” the security forces believe.
On the morning of December 7, eighth-grader Alina Afanaskina came to the gymnasium with her father’s Bekas-3 hunting rifle and began shooting at her classmates. As a result, five schoolchildren were injured, another girl died on the spot. After this, the girl who opened fire committed suicide. Based on the incident, the Investigative Committee opened a murder case (Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). A case of negligence was also opened (Article 293 of the Criminal Code).
Cases were opened against the girl’s father, Dmitry Afanaskin, for careless storage of firearms (Article 224 of the Criminal Code), as well as for driving his daughter to suicide (Article 110 of the Criminal Code), wrote Baza. It is unknown whether a preventive measure has been taken against him. Yesterday, the court arrested Sergei Poddubny, director of the security company Escalibur Agency, and security officer Galina Chertkova.
