The current generation Genesis G80 sedan has been in service since 2020. Created on a rear-wheel drive platform, the model as a whole turned out to be successful. In particular, in its native Korea (the Genesis premium brand is owned by Hyundai), the four-door tops the brand’s personal standings: according to the results of 11 months of 2023, 41,107 units were sold, while, for example, the imported Mercedes-Benz E-Class for the same period sold 22,209 copies. And now the time has come for restyling. The brand has so far published only a few images of the upgraded G80; a full presentation will be held later.

Externally, the sedan has changed little. The radiator grille features a double mesh, like the updated Genesis GV80 crossover; The bumpers have also been refreshed, and the exhaust pipes are now hidden. The four-door retains its signature two-way optics, while the headlights and running lights have a different diode filling. Finally, the model received 20-inch wheels of a new design. At the same time, the restyled “warmed up” G80 Sport is shown, its features are the original grille and wheels, plus a more aggressive body kit.

The dimensions of the updated model have not yet been revealed. The length of the pre-reform Genesis G80 is 4995 mm, width – 1925 mm, height – 1465 mm, wheelbase – 3010 mm.
The interior, on the contrary, has been redesigned more thoroughly. There is a new steering wheel, front panel, climate control unit, gear shift washers and controller. The main feature is a single 27-inch display instead of a separate virtual instrument panel and multimedia system tablet. Well, we also replaced the finishing materials. The interior of the G80 Sport was not shown, but it was stated that the “sports” version received a truncated steering wheel and carbon inserts.

Whether the reforms affected technology is still unknown. At home, the sedan has long lost its 2.2 turbodiesel (210 hp), its return is not planned. Now the Genesis G80 range includes a petrol turbo-four 2.5 T-GDI (304 hp) and a twin-turbo V6 3.5 (380 hp), both engines are combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The exact start date for sales of the updated Genesis G80 has not yet been announced. It is possible that orders will begin to be accepted in Korea this year. By the way, the model also has an electric version: this four-door will probably be updated in 2024.
