A resident of Komi was sentenced to 12 years in prison in the case of arson of the FSB building

The 2nd Western District Military Court, at an off-site hearing in the Supreme Court of Komi, sentenced Evgeniy Zabolotny, a resident of Usinsk, to 12 years in prison in the case of arson of the FSB building. A BNK agency correspondent reports this from the courtroom.

The man will spend the first three years in prison, the rest in a maximum security colony.

Zabolotny was tried under the article on a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). He admitted that he threw several Molotov cocktails at the FSB building in Usinsk. At the same time, the man said in court that he had no intention of committing a terrorist attack. After the verdict was announced, Zabolotny said that “12 years is a long time for setting the FSB on fire.”

The detention of a resident of Usinsk became known on May 14, the next day the court sent him to a pre-trial detention center. According to investigators, the man committed arson “in order to destabilize the activities of government bodies and influence their decision-making.”

The Baza Telegram channel wrote that one of the Molotov cocktails hit the window frame and caught fire. The total area of ​​the fire was one and a half square meters. TASS writes that due to the fire, part of the window and walls of the building were slightly damaged.
