The compact SUV now has a more aggressive look. The reforms hardly affected the interior, but the list of available equipment was expanded.
The Kia Sonet crossover has been in service since 2020; in the brand’s range it is one step below the Seltos model. The debut market for Sonnet was India, where the main production site is located. However, the five-door is not a local exclusive: it is also sold in the countries of Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. And now the time has come for restyling. The Indians will again be the first to receive such an SUV: the presentation of their updated SUV was held today, December 14, but the cars are expected to reach dealers only at the beginning of next year.

Following the rest of the refreshed models of the brand, the Kia Sonet cross switched to “fanged” optics. The SUV also has new bumpers, and the radiator grille now has a different pattern. In addition, the palette of body colors has been expanded, and the design of the wheels has been changed (but they are still 15- or 16-inch). As before, in India, along with the “simple” versions for the Sonnet, there are Tech Line, GT Line and X-Line options; they differ in decor.

The dimensions of the Indian crossover have not changed: length — 3995 mm, width — 1790 mm, height — 1642 mm, wheelbase — 2500 mm . Note that the model intended for other countries is slightly larger, while in India, cars with a length of less than four meters are entitled to tax incentives.
The only significant new thing in the cabin is a full-fledged virtual instrument panel with a diagonal of 10.25 inches. True, this screen is only available on expensive trim levels. “Rich” versions of the Kia Sonet also acquired a set of safety systems, which includes adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and lane-keeping systems. Such cars also have ventilated front seats, climate control and all-round cameras.

In India, the restyled SUV will be offered with the same engines: naturally aspirated 1.2 petrol (83 hp) and turbocharged 1.0 T-GDI (120 hp), diesel 1.5 CRDi (115 hp). Boxes (depending on the version) — traditional five- or six-speed manual, 6iMT without a mechanical connection between the pedal and the clutch, a classic six-speed automatic and a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. In any case, the drive is only front-wheel drive.

More prices no. The pre-reform Kia Sonet recently cost from 779,000 rupees, which is equivalent to approximately 840,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. After India, the cross will be updated in other countries. By the way, despite its compact size, in some markets the Sonnet comes with seven seats.
