A member of the “Rostov Amazons” gang had his 25 years in prison replaced with a life sentence

The criminal panel of the Third Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction sentenced former traffic police officer and member of the “Rostov Amazons” gang Sergei Sinelnik to life imprisonment. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

As the department clarified, Sinelnik will serve his sentence in a special regime correctional colony. “The state prosecutor, not agreeing with the imposed punishment for Sergei Sinelnik, appealed the verdict,” added the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In February of this year, Sinelnik was sentenced to 25 years in a maximum security colony with the deprivation of his special rank. He and three other members of the “Amazon gang” were found guilty of murder, complicity and attempted murder, robbery, theft of weapons, assault on the life of law enforcement officers, theft and other charges.

According to investigators, within six from July 2007 to September 2013, Inessa Tarverdieva, together with her daughter Victoria and their spouses Sergei and Anastasia Sinelnik, attacked several Rostovites, killed seven people, and attempted to kill three more people, including a minor. In addition, they “encroached on the lives of six police officers, three of whom died.”

The founder of the gang, Inessa Tarverdieva, and her daughter Victoria Tarverdieva were each sentenced to 25 years in prison. Sinelnik’s wife Anastasia was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

This is not the first sentence against the gang of “Rostov Amazons”. In 2017, Inessa Tarverdieva was sentenced to 21 years in prison, her daughter to 16 years, Anastasia Sinelnik to 19 years, and her husband to 20 years in prison. They were found guilty under articles of banditry (Article 209 of the Criminal Code), murder (Article 105 of the Criminal Code), robbery (Article 162 of the Criminal Code), theft and illegal trafficking of weapons (Articles 226 of the Criminal Code and 222 of the Criminal Code).

Then the trial considered only those crimes that were committed from 2007 to 2009. The gang members were detained in 2013.
