Serbia explained why Bulgaria needs an excise tax on gas transit from Russia

BELGRADE, December 16 The Bulgarian authorities tried to introduce an excise tax on the transit of gas from the Russian Federation to stop its supplies to Europe, but this is impossible, the general director of the Srbijagaz company and deputy chairman of the Socialist Party said in an interview Serbia Dusan Bayatovic.
“»The purpose of trying to introduce these additional hundred dollars was that the Russians would refuse to pay, for the rest it would become expensive and then they would say — transit is not paid, the service cannot be provided. This was invented to stop supplies Russian gas through the Turkish Stream, the Balkan Stream to Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia. It would be too suspicious to have another mining of the gas pipeline, the Turkish Stream, as was the case with the Nord Stream. It would not be possible to justify the fact that another gas pipeline was mined at the bottom of the sea, so this option was invented to stop gas supplies from the Russian Federation to Europe,” Bayatovic said in a conversation with the agency.
According to him, the Bulgarian authorities themselves have already withdrawn their decision, and it is currently being considered by the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria.
