The former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine spoke about the participation of the EU and the United States in the events of the Maidan

UN, Nov 27 Group of people participating in coups d’etat and color revolutions in the post-Soviet space, appeared in Kiev long before the events of the Maidan, Vitaly Zakharchenko, who was the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine from 2011-2014, said at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council.
Today, at the initiative of Russia, an informal meeting of the UN Security Council is being held on the topic “Ten years of Euromaidan: a step into the abyss.”

"In Ukraine at that time there was a visa-free regime for representatives of the EU and the USA, which, in our opinion, the intelligence services of these countries certainly took advantage of. <…> We have information that a group of people who participated in coups d'etat and color revolutions in the post-Soviet space and in the countries ofNorth Africaappeared in Kiev long before the shootings on the Maidan,” said Zakharchenko.

He noted that these people had close contact with the leaders of the Ukrainian opposition for many years and were constantly in the thick of protests. As Zakharchenko pointed out, his department identified a group of people who had previously not only been trained in Western centers in the use of color revolution technologies, but also received special training in the United States on countering the police and fighting in urban conditions.

According to the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of Western PMCs began appearing on the Maidan in December 2013.

“They formally took upon themselves the function of protecting peaceful demonstrators, but in fact, combat training for hundreds of Maidan protesters. Already in December, the law enforcement system had information that firearms were being illegally imported into Kiev,” noted Zakharchenko.

He also added that the warning of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the request to cancel the visa-free regime, or expel unwanted persons from countries, the presidential administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refused, citing political inexpediency.

In addition, Zakharchenko said that the “unknown snipers” during the coup were mainly people from the Baltic countries and Georgia, closely associated with the intelligence services of the United States and Western countries. According to him, in addition to those armed people who were captured by many media outlets, the operation involved several groups of professional shooters of different nationalities who did not know about each other’s activities. Their task was only to carry out the shooting itself, the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified.

“»They secretly arrived without weapons at a place prepared in advance for shooting (the weapons were already in place). After completing the task, they also secretly retreated,» — he said.
In turn, the coup control center was located at the US Embassy in Kyiv, Zakharchenko said. According to him, representatives of Great Britain, Germany and Poland were also involved in the process. In addition, the Baltic countries and Georgia were assigned a certain role.
“The processes that led Ukraine to a bloody scenario are based on the policies of Western countries, which, after the collapse of the USSR, made a lot of efforts to ensure that Ukraine became an outpost of the struggle against Russia. In essence, it was made anti-Russia. The West set two tasks for Ukraine “This is a discreditation of the Russian world and a war in the interests of Western capital,” Zakharchenko emphasized.

According to him, the task of the West was “to create a rift, pit the fraternal peoples of Russia and Ukraine against each other in a bloody civil strife.”
November marked ten years since protests began on the main Kyiv square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti), leading to a coup. The reason was the government's suspension of signing an association agreement with the EU. Later, the Maidan became the epicenter of the confrontation between security forces and radicals; clashes resulted in dozens of casualties.
The Ukrainian authorities and opposition signed a settlement agreement on February 21, 2014, through the mediation of the EU. It assumed the resumption of the 2004 Ukrainian constitution with previously introduced amendments, the formation of a government of national unity, and the holding of presidential elections immediately after the adoption of the country’s new constitution. The authorities and the opposition pledged to refrain from using force, but on February 22, protesters seized the government quarter.
In anticipation of the attack, then-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych left Kyiv and went to Kharkov. After this, on the initiative of the opposition, the Verkhovna Rada, violating the agreements between the head of state and the opposition, changed the constitution, replaced the leadership of parliament and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and called new presidential elections, accusing Yanukovych of allegedly “unconstitutionally withdrawing himself from the exercise of powers.”
