MOSCOW, January 12 A new carriage with shelves 2 meters long and a wider aisle is planned to have compartment seats, the press service of Russian Railways reported.
Russian Railways General Director Oleg Belozerov, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, said that at the end of 2024 the company will launch a passenger car with 2-meter shelves and wider aisles.
“We are talking about a compartment car,” Russian Railways reported.
The company did not disclose other details of the new rolling stock. The car manufacturer, Transmashholding, also did not disclose details.
Belozerov told Putin that the new car would be certified at the end of the year and would be launched in December. We are talking about a new passenger car of size T.
It differs from the previous one in that it is 30 centimeters wider, which means that the shelf will be longer: not 1.83 meters, but two meters, Belozerov said.
In this composition the passage will also be wider: by five centimeters.
