Media: the US Congress agreed to finance the government until March

WASHINGTON, January 14 Leaders of both houses of the US Congress have reached an agreement regarding the temporary government funding project, Politico newspaper wrote on Saturday, citing a source familiar with the situation.
It is expected that funding for some federal departments will be extended until March 1, for others — until March 8.

Voting on the project is expected next week.

US President Joe Biden reported on January 7 that Congress had reached an agreement on government funding that would prevent an “unnecessary shutdown.” The approved funds will be enough to ensure the work of the government until January 19. The media wrote earlier that the chances of a suspension of the American government after January 20 are very high, given that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, promised not to move forward with temporary funding bills. In the event of a shutdown, the first to suspend work are the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. The rest of the US government, without a permanent budget, will cease to function on February 3.
Shutdown in the United States is the cessation of work of government agencies due to lack of funding. In this scenario, government employees involved in critical work would be forced to continue to perform their duties without pay, while others would be placed on forced leave.
