WASHINGTON, January 13 US House Speaker Mike Johnson said , that a U.S. congressional delegation is preparing to visit Taiwan in May.
To underscore Congress's continued commitment to security and democracy, I am asking the chairmen of the relevant House committees to lead the delegation's visit to Taipei after Lai's inauguration Qingde in May,» Johnson said in a released statement.
He expressed hope that the United States and Taiwan together «will continue to advance the principles of freedom, opportunity and security» for the benefit of all democracies and their partners in the Indo-Pacific region. As Johnson noted, the US leadership is counting on cooperation with the new head of the island's administration.
