Photos and first technical information about the next generation SUV were published in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry.
The American brand Cadillac, part of the General Motors concern, introduced the XT5 crossover in the fall of 2015, production started in 2016. This model underwent an update in 2020, and now it is preparing for an imminent generation change. It was initially assumed that this SUV would leave the home market and remain only in China, where the “second” XT5 will soon debut. However, there is a chance that the new SUV will still reach North America.

Judging by the pictures, the crossover will receive a design in the current corporate style of the brand. Thus, the second-generation XT5 has two-story headlights with narrow horizontally elongated headlights and vertically positioned lower sections.

The radiator grille with a cell pattern was left with a recognizable pentagonal shape, but was deprived of its chrome trim. A large air intake with horizontal lines is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper. The Cadillac XT5 will continue to be offered with traditional outside mirrors and «regular» door handles.

The stern also received a two-piece head optics with horizontal and vertical elements. The lights are connected to each other by a chrome strip across the entire width of the tailgate. Silver roof rails and a shark fin antenna were placed on the roof. The lower part of the rear bumper is now designed somewhat differently, the shape of the exhaust system pipes has changed (one on each side).
During the generation change, the crossover intended for the Chinese market grew: the length of the “second” Cadillac XT5 is 4888 mm (75 mm more than its predecessor), width – 1957 mm (54 mm more), height – 1694 mm (8 mm more). mm more). At the same time, the distance between the axles of the new product is 2863 mm, which is only 6 mm more than that of the current XT5.
In the Middle Kingdom, under the hood of the Cadillac XT5 there will be a 2.0-liter turbo engine developed by a joint venture GM SAIC, its output is 230 hp. There is no official information yet about what “filling” the North American version of the SUV may receive. Note that the current local crossover is offered with either a 2.0-liter turbo-four producing 238 hp. power, or with a 314-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine.

So far there is no information about the price of the future Cadillac XT5. In China, purchasing a current crossover costs customers 352,700 – 452,700 yuan. And in the American market, the current SUV costs from 43,895 to 56,795 dollars.
Recall that at the end of last year the updated Cadillac CT5 sedan launched in China. Here this model is offered with one engine and only rear-wheel drive, while in the States its range is wider.
