The Russian Government has approved updated rules for the provision of telephone services , which will come into force on September 1, 2024.
Telecom operators will be allowed to inform customers about the activation of additional services in writing, via SMS, voice call and notification in the subscriber’s personal account at least 10 days before their connection.
Subscribers will be allowed to terminate the contract for the provision of communication services in at any time, subject to payment.
Russians will be allowed to switch to another telecom operator with the same phone number, completing this transition on the Internet using an electronic signature.
Earlier, the governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, warned that at night from January 25 to 30, there would be no LTE mobile Internet in the region for all telecom operators. This is due to technical work to reconfigure the radio frequency spectrum of transmitting equipment.
At the same time, mobile Internet became available to residents of the islands and visiting tourists on the Talab Islands for the first time. All the necessary equipment was installed in the waters of Lake Pskov. Mobile Internet will allow subscribers to comfortably use Internet services, communicate in instant messengers, share photos and videos on social networks.
At the same time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) obliged Russian mobile operators MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 to return free distribution of Internet traffic from mobile phones to Russians. However, MTS tried to challenge the decision of the regulatory body, explaining that compliance with its instructions would lead to a deterioration in the quality of communication and an increase in all tariffs.
