A resident of the Volgograd region was fined one thousand rubles for publishing an LGBT flag on social networks

The Volga City Court fined local resident Artem P. one thousand rubles for publishing the flag of the “International LGBT Social Movement.” This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Volgograd region.

A resident of Volzhsky was found guilty of displaying prohibited symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code). As stated in the press release, by posting the LGBT flag on a social network, Artem P. “allowed the storage of prohibited symbols for the purpose of mass distribution.” He himself explained at the trial that he published the flag “out of stupidity.”

Earlier, a resident of Nizhny Novgorod was arrested for five days under the same article for LGBT symbols. A similar case was also opened in Saratov against a local photographer, but the court has not yet made a decision on it.

On November 30, the Supreme Court of Russia declared the “LGBT movement” an extremist organization at the request of the Ministry of Justice. In the reasoning part of the ruling, the Supreme Court called the movement “a destructive ideological mechanism of influence on citizens” and “a threat to the demographic situation in the country, which contributes to the creation of conditions for the self-destruction of society.”
