MOSCOW, February 7 The Kremlin receives many applications at an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including from Western media, which cannot boast of trying to look impartial, and therefore there is no desire to communicate with such media, the Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
He previously confirmed that American journalist Tucker Carlson interviewed Putin on Tuesday.
“No, Mr. Carlson is wrong, he, in fact, cannot know this,” Peskov said, commenting on Carlson’s words that recently not a single Western journalist has bothered to interview Putin, and answering the question, indeed Whether the press service of the President of the Russian Federation has not received a single request for an interview with the head of state.
“We receive many requests for interviews with the president, but basically, when it comes to the countries of the collective West, we are talking about large online media, traditional television channels, large newspapers, which cannot boast of attempts to at least look impartial in terms of covering what is happening,” — added the press secretary of the Russian leader.
According to him, such media take an “exclusively one-sided position.”
“Of course, there is no desire to communicate with such media, and there is hardly any point in this, it is unlikely that there can be any benefit from this,” Peskov said.
Carlson on Tuesday published a video message on the social network X against the backdrop of the Kremlin towers and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, in which he stated that he would soon interview the Russian president. According to the journalist, he will interview because the Americans are absolutely unaware of what is happening in Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, the White House, according to Carlson, twice tried to disrupt the interview. Later, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied this statement by the journalist.
