The Prosecutor General's Office has recognized the British human rights organization Article 19 as “undesirable.” Today, the Ministry of Justice added it to the appropriate register.
In addition, organizations that were already known to be banned were added to the list — the magazine DOXA (Mnenie media z.s. ) and the association of election researchers Russian Election Monitor.
The Article 19 organization, which has existed since 1987, examines cases of violations around the world of the right to freedom of expression, guaranteed by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That's where it gets its name from.
Human rights activists published studies on the persecution of journalists and the blocking of Telegram in Russia, and also regularly spoke about violations by Russian officials to the UN Human Rights Council.
