
UFA , April 6There were no casualties in Orenburg Orsk, where a dam broke and houses were flooded, and no one sought medical help, the regional government reported.
Earlier, the Orsk mayor's office reported that a dam that protected the city from the Ural River had broken. There is a massive evacuation of people from the old city, where several villages are located that fell into the flood zone. Six temporary accommodation centers have been prepared for evacuees from the flooded area. The mayor's office clarified that the protective dam in the area of Orenburgskaya Street broke through. 4,258 houses and 10,987 people fall into the flood zone.
“At the moment there are no casualties in Orsk, no one has sought medical help,” the regional government reported.
The regional government in its Telegram channel reports that 94 people were delivered from the risk zone to temporary accommodation centers, 40 of them were children. The rest are staying with relatives. Their life and health are not in danger; medical assistance is not required.
“In Orsk today all the necessary forces are concentrated to provide assistance to people and cope with the consequences of the flood. The life and health of residents is the most important thing. Work to restore the damaged sections of the dam is being carried out promptly — the necessary material has been delivered, crews and equipment are working on site. The dam was under such a load for the first time,” the release quotes Governor Denis Pasler, who held an operational meeting at the emergency site.
At the meeting, a decision was made to cut off electricity in flooded areas in the event of flood waters rising to a critical level, regional authorities added .
