YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, June 11 An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was registered on Tuesday morning off the coast of the Kuril Islands, said Elena Semenova, head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station.
«An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred on June 11 at 9.27 (1.27 Moscow time). Its epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean 145 kilometers southeast of the Kuril Island Iturup, the source was located at a depth of 56 kilometers,» the agency's interlocutor said. 
According to Semenova, no data on tsunami alerts were received in populated areas of the Kuril Islands.
