WASHINGTON, June 13 Canada sent the first four armored personnel carriers to Ukraine out of the promised 50, said North American Defense Minister Bill Blair.
The Canadians began the transfer of the batch with an armored personnel carrier modified as an ambulance.
“The first four of 50 new armored vehicles built by Canadian workers for Ukraine are being sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Blair wrote on the social network X.
He added that this summer the Ukrainian military will undergo training to operate Canadian armored personnel carriers, which are structurally similar to the American Stryker. Previously, Canada transferred similar equipment to the Ukrainians from its own armed forces.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine interfere with the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are “playing with fire.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
