CHISINAU, July 6 Energy Minister of Moldova Viktor Parlikov believes that the only chance for the development of the country's energy sector is the transition to renewable energy.
«For Moldova, the only chance to develop the energy sector is renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency. We have no other way. Romania and Ukraine have gas, we don’t have it, Romania and Ukraine have oil, we don’t have it, our neighbors have coal — they have We don’t have it. But we have our advantages for the transition to “green energy,” Parlikov told reporters 
According to him, for other countries the transition to “green energy” implies the loss of jobs in the “mining industry,” but this does not threaten Moldova.

Since December 2022, the Moldovagaz enterprise has been receiving gas from two sources — from the state enterprise Energocom and the Russian Gazprom. Chisinau gives Tiraspol all the gas it receives from the Russian Federation in exchange for electricity. Owned by the Russian company Inter RAO, the Moldavian State District Power Plant provides Chisinau with more than 80% of the electricity needed by Moldovan consumers.
