A 51-year-old climber from Tolyatti died from a lightning strike while climbing a mountain in the Chereksky district of Kabardino-Balkaria, the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed.
The tragedy occurred in the Chereksky gorge on Mount Dykhtau, the height of which 5000 meters. The tourist died, according to preliminary data, from a lightning strike, the rescuers said in a statement.
The deceased, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, is a resident of Togliatti, born in 1973. It is specified that he was part of a group of 4 people registered at the Bezengi mountaineering camp.
6 rescuers from the Elbrus search and rescue team went to the site to transport the body of the deceased.
