
JAKARTA, July 6. Indonesia should be more decisive in the issue of using Peace cards in the country, Sergei Tolchenov said in his first interview with the press after his appointment new ambassador of the Russian Federation to Indonesia.
Earlier, Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno announced in an interview that his department wants to include cards of the Russian payment system «Mir» as a method of paying the tourist tax in Bali, this could be done as early as August.
< br />Commenting on the words of the Indonesian Minister of Tourism, Tolchenov noted that the functionality of the Mir cards is not limited to such a utilitarian task as paying the tourist tax in Bali. «If and when such cards begin to operate in Indonesia, Russian citizens here will be able to use them for a variety of purposes. This will allow them to resolve a number of issues related to paying for their stay,» the ambassador emphasized.
According to him, Moscow has long offered the Indonesian side the option of local banks accepting cards of the Russian Mir payment system.
«»The algorithm of actions for this has been explained. It should be assumed that Indonesian banking structures are still afraid to work with us. They are looking at how the West will react to this. But they should be more decisive if they are still interested in the number of Russian tourists in Indonesia have increased,” explained the head of the Russian diplomatic mission. According to the diplomat, when Russians can freely use Russian payment cards in Indonesia, they will be much more active and willing to visit this country.
“We are waiting for the Indonesian country to finally “ripe” to solve this problem. We are ready to do everything that is needed on our part, to provide the necessary support,” the ambassador concluded.
