Mazda CX-50 debuted in November 2021, the crossover was initially addressed to the North American market. The model went into production in January 2022: production was launched at the facilities of the new plant of the joint venture between Mazda and Toyota (Mazda Toyota Manufacturing), which is located in Huntsville (Alabama). Now the Japanese company has introduced the Mazda CX-50 2025 model year for the American market, the main innovation being the presence of a version with a different “filling”. This SUV received a hybrid installation from Toyota (THS): it is based on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which works in tandem with three electric motors (one acts as a generator, the second is located on the front axle, the third is on the rear) and a continuously variable transmission electronically controlled transmission (eCVT); It also includes a small battery. The total output of this system is 222 hp, and the maximum torque is 220 Nm. All versions of the model, including the hybrid, have all-wheel drive.
The company noted that, according to EPA estimates, the combined fuel consumption of the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid is 38 mpg (or 6.2 liters per 100 km). This figure is approximately 40% better than that of the CX-50 2.5 S version (equipped with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G turbo-four with a capacity of 230 hp, 420 Nm), which means it will allow owners to significantly save on gasoline. The carrying capacity of the gas-electric version of the crossover is 680 kg, and a special towing mode allows you to transport a trailer weighing up to 1588 kg.
The new Mazda CX-50 has several visual differences from the versions with a traditional internal combustion engine. The crossover with the Hybrid addition has a different lower part of the front bumper, 17-inch wheels of an original design are offered as standard, and a set of 19-inch «rollers» is provided for more expensive versions. The price of the hybrid version in the USA varies from 33,970 to 40,050 dollars (equivalent to approximately 3.0 — 3.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate). For the starting version of the “regular” CX-50 they are asking for at least $30,300 (about 2.7 million rubles), and purchasing the top version will cost $43,300 (about 3.8 million rubles).
