Last month, the first spy photos of the substantially redesigned American SUV were published, revealing changes in its appearance.
The full-size Navigator SUV was first introduced in 1997. Like all subsequent generations, it was built on the basis of Ford's sister SUV, the Expedition. Today, the fourth generation of the model is on the assembly line, which premiered in April 2017. In the summer of 2021, the SUV received a restyling, and now, judging by the recently published photographs of prototypes, a more radical update is being prepared.

The test samples caught by spy photographers have a completely new front end, made in the style of the junior Nautilus crossover, presented last year. Here, there is a vertical radiator grille of a similar shape and horizontal headlights of a slightly simpler shape, combined with LED running lights. Under the grille, there will be a chrome molding, and under it — a strict in shape wide air intake. From the side, the only differences so far that can be seen are the window sill molding expanding in the rear and slightly modified side mirrors. The rear end will be designed in the style of the same Naulitus: here, there will be lights stretched across the entire width of the rear end with an arched LED strip. Note that the photographs and renders show an extended version of the SUV with the L prefix.

No significant technical changes are expected yet. The current fourth-generation Navigator is built on the Ford T3 platform, which is also used by the aforementioned Expedition and the latest generation F-150 pickups. Under the hood, the SUV has a gasoline twin-turbo 3.5L Ecoboost V6 with 446 hp (691 Nm of torque), a similar engine is installed on the F-150 Raptor pickup. A 10-speed automatic transmission is used as a transmission, the drive can be rear or full.

The premiere of the new product is expected this year. By the way, along with it, the related Ford Expedition, the renderings of which we made not so long ago, will also be significantly updated.
