MOSCOW, July 15 Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes that former US President Donald Trump has “already won” the election race after the assassination attempt, “if he is not killed.”
“
"Now he has already won. If they don’t kill him,” Medvedev wrote on the social network X, accompanying the post with a photo of Trump.
An attempt on the life of the Republican presidential candidate occurred on Saturday at his election rally. The politician was wounded in the ear, and security took him away from the event. According to Trump, he lost a lot of blood. The ex-president has already been discharged from the hospital after a medical examination.
The attacker managed to fire several shots towards the stage, after which he was eliminated. The suspect is 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Pennsylvania. He was hiding on the roof of an industrial building about a hundred meters from the stage — outside the territory where the event was held.
In the incident, a spectator of the election rally also died, two more people were seriously injured.
US President Joe Biden, commenting on this incident, promised that the investigation into the assassination attempt would be swift. At the same time, he urged not to give in to speculation about the shooter’s motives until all the circumstances are clarified. The head of state also ordered a comprehensive and independent review of the security arrangements at the rally during which the attack took place.
