MOSCOW, July 14 The Russian Federation today occupies much a more sober position towards the West than before, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov. The footage was posted on Zarubin’s telegram channel, the interview was recorded on July 11.
“Back then, our leaders probably wore rose-colored glasses. It seemed to them that they could trust the collective West. To test it, there was no need to believe it. Now we have a much more sober position we occupy,” he told journalist Pavel Zarubin when asked about the negotiations between the Russian leadership and NATO in the 1990s.
When asked why the West publishes such texts as the transcript of the negotiations in the 1990s, because it is essentially speaks in favor of Russia, Peskov noted that in the West “there is practically no one to analyze such complex texts for understanding.”
“And even if someone decides to analyze and speak with this publicly, he will be instantly ostracized,” he added .
Peskov added that he also read the recordings of conversations that Putin spoke about 6-7 years ago: “what they promised us, what was discussed, and what happened in the end.”
