A 21-year-old native of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug was sentenced to 12 years in prison under the article on high treason

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Bogdan Bely, a 21-year-old resident of Nefteyugansk in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, to 12 years in prison on charges of attempted participation in a terrorist organization (part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) and attempted treason (part 3 of article 30, article 275 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona was informed about this by the press service.

The case was considered at mobile sessions in the Belgorod Regional Court. The young man will have to spend the first three years in prison, and the rest of the term — 9 years — in a maximum security correctional colony. He was also fined 300 thousand rubles, the press service clarified.

It is unknown what exactly Bely was accused of — the trial was held behind closed doors. Apparently, as in other such cases, the young man was accused of intending to join the Legion “Freedom of Russia” or RDK, or another Ukrainian unit recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization. It was not possible to find news about Bely’s arrest. Since the hearings took place in the Belgorod region, he was probably detained there.

The young man’s social media pages were closed. Around the fall of 2022, he changed his name on VKontakte from Bogdan Bely to Bogdan Bondarenko. He also changed his hometown: instead of Nefteyugansk it is now indicated Gorishniye Plavni/Komsomolsk in the Poltava region of Ukraine. On the cover of the page is a photograph of Sergei Loiko taken in 2014 with Ukrainian paratroopers against the backdrop of the Donetsk airport destroyed during the fighting in Donbass.

Mediazona was unable to reach the mother of Bogdan Bely. Judging by her page, she supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine: on the woman’s wall you can find a video from occupied Mariupol, decorated in the colors of the Russian flag, links to the song “Let’s Rise” by Shaman and a speech by propagandist Margarita Simonyan. On another page at the end of May, she posted a photo with her son wearing the “Graduate 2019” ribbon, and signed that it was taken five years ago. She has made no other mentions of Bogdan in recent years.
