KRASNODAR, July 15Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, against the backdrop of a major fire near Novorossiysk, ordered the installation of seven forest fire stations in the region within two weeks, staffing them with 50 people.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported a fire in the forest and grass in the area of the Durso farm. The fire spread to the territory of the Blue Wave recreation center; it was later extinguished, but the forest continued to burn and the fire spread over 62 hectares. A state of emergency has been introduced in Novorossiysk. On Sunday evening, the forest fire spread to the recreation centers “Moryak”, “Romantic”, “Frigate”, from where people were evacuated in advance. A criminal case has been initiated under the article “Destruction and damage to forest plantations”, as well as the negligence of officials. On Monday, the governor announced the containment of the fire.
