The court sent the person accused of an explosion at a substation in St. Petersburg to a pre-trial detention center; then several areas of the city were left without electricity

The Krasnogvardeisky District Court of St. Petersburg sent Artem Prokopets, accused of an explosion at an electrical substation, to a pre-trial detention center until September 14. This was reported by the press service of the St. Petersburg courts.

According to the investigation, on the night of April 3, Prokopets damaged two transformers of an electrical substation on Ekaterininsky Prospekt, as a result of which the Rosseti Lenenergo company suffered damage amounting to 138.8 million rubles. A criminal case of sabotage has been opened against him (points “b” and “c” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code).

According to 47news, Prokopts is 26 years old, he has a photo on social networks from a military kitchen, in which a young man is photographed with his colleagues wearing vests.

In early April, several districts of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region were left without electricity due to a failure at a substation in the Krasnogvardeisky district, Fontanka wrote. Rosseti Lenenergo said that the cause of the power outage was a technological violation in the equipment. The Krasnogvardeisky district administration claimed that the failure occurred due to a short circuit at the substation.

Fontanka reported on the criminal case of sabotage the day after, according to investigators, Prokopets blew up transformers. According to the newspaper, the young man was caught on surveillance cameras, and after he left, the police received a report of a sound similar to an explosion.
