MOSCOW, July 21 The Shiite Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, which rules northern Yemen, said it launched ballistic missile strikes on targets near the city of Eilat in southern Israel, and also attacked the American vessel Pumba in the Red Sea using ballistic missiles and drones.
«Rocket units of the Yemeni armed forces (Houthis — ed.) carried out… an operation during which they struck important targets in the Umm ar-Rashrash (Eilat — ed.) area… using ballistic missiles and drones… The naval forces… and rocket units… «carried out a joint military operation, during which the American vessel Pumba was struck in the Red Sea using ballistic missiles and UAVs,» Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria said in a statement.
As Saria noted, the vessel was hit during the operation. According to the statement, the attacks were carried out in response to «American-British-Israeli aggression.»
The ruling Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement in northern Yemen, which controls most of Yemen's Red Sea coast, previously announced its support for Palestine and its intention to attack any ships associated with Israel, calling on other countries to recall their crews and not approach them at sea. At the same time, they said that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not touch the ships of other countries. Amid the attacks, some companies decided to suspend transportation through the Red Sea.
