ISTANBUL, Aug 5 Hundreds of passengers were left without luggage due to a broken baggage carousel at Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
«There were technical problems with the baggage carousel at Sabiha Gokcen Airport on Sunday evening, and this has had a negative impact on passengers of all airlines, not just ours,» the low-cost airline AJet confirmed. They advised passengers whose luggage was left at the departure airport to contact the company via the feedback form on the website.
Passengers have been posting numerous videos and photos from the airport on social media, and dozens of suitcases were left at check-in counters. According to the Havasosyalmedya portal, the bags will be sent today.
Earlier, the Hürriyet newspaper reported that Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport was operating at capacity, with passengers missing their flights due to huge queues. According to the publication, there are long queues at passport control, as passport control officers are often on duty outside the airport, which causes great difficulties in the operation of the system.
