The number of people injured in the Ukrainian army's attack on the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region has increased to 28. This was reported to TASS by the region's chief surgeon, Andrei Loktionov.
According to him, the injured include doctors who provided assistance to the wounded. At least five people are also known to have died, including a paramedic and an ambulance driver.
In the morning, the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, wrote in his Telegram channel that the region «has been heroically resisting attacks by Ukrainian Nazis for 24 hours.» The official added that all emergency services have been put on high alert and called on residents of the region to donate blood.
According to the authors of the pro-war Telegram channel «Arkhangel Spetsnaz,» at least 400 Ukrainian military personnel are currently in the Kursk region. The Rybar Telegram channel claims that Ukrainian soldiers are holding three Russian border villages — Darino, Nikolayevo-Daryino and Sverdlikovo, and are also likely to control part of the Rylsk-Sudzha highway and the area along the 38K-004 highway.
The previous evening, the Dva Mayora Telegram channel reported that Ukrainian soldiers were in the Kursk villages of Darino, Sverdlikovo, Gogolevka, Goncharovka and were trying to capture Oleshnya. According to Rybar, Ukrainian soldiers are advancing towards Sudzha. The city's residents, as the Telegram channel writes, «have essentially evacuated themselves.»
Fighting in the border areas of the Kursk region has been going on for 24 hours. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the morning of August 6, 300 Ukrainian servicemen, 11 tanks and 20 armored vehicles attacked the «positions of cover units» on the border of Ukraine and Russia.
