MOSCOW, August 6 President Vladimir Putin met with Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis.
The head of state inquired about the health of Chibis, who was attacked by a man with a knife four months ago.
«How are you feeling?» Putin asked.
«In combat formation <…> I am undergoing rehabilitation at my workplace, everything is fine,» the governor replied.
The assassination attempt on Chibis occurred on the evening of April 4. As the investigation found out, the 42-year-old resident of Apatity waited for the governor to finish a meeting with city residents and stabbed him in the stomach. The attacker was detained; he explained his actions by a feeling of personal hostility, although he was not familiar with Chibis.
The governor was taken to the hospital and operated on, and on April 18 he returned to work. Then Putin spoke to him via video link, supported his nomination for a new term and wished him success.
The elections for the governor of the Murmansk region will be held on September 7-8.
