US Vice Presidential Candidate Waltz Was Arrested Almost 30 Years Ago

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz was arrested and charged with drunk driving nearly thirty years ago, Fox News reports.
«Walz pleaded guilty, paid a $200 fine and allegedly has not consumed alcohol since,» the channel reports.

According to the report, Walz was arrested in Nebraska in September 1995 on suspicion of drunk driving. Walz, a 28-year-old school teacher, was driving at 80 mph and failed a sobriety test, with his blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit, the report said.

Walz found himself at the center of a scandal this week after claiming to have fought in the military while serving in the Army. Republicans insisted that this was not true — the politician left the unit when he learned that he would be sent to Iraq. The headquarters of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris later admitted that Walz misspoke. Even earlier, opponents blamed the politician for supporting transgender people; as governor of Minnesota, he actually approved a number of initiatives on this issue (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
