The head of the Union of Ukrainians in Poland, Miroslav Skorka, spoke about the difficulties refugees face because of the use of the Russian language. The attitude of Poles towards Ukrainian refugees is deteriorating, and this, according to Skorka, is due to the fact that many of them speak Russian.
According to information received by the organization, many Poles express concern when they learn that help What they provide to the refugees goes to the Russian-speaking Ukrainian community.
Skorka, in an interview with the Guardian, cited data from a spring poll showing the gradual deterioration of Poles' relations with Ukrainians in Poland, in which one of the reasons is the predominance of the Russian language among Ukrainians. He also noted that, unlike Belarusians, who speak Russian, many Poles are beginning to wonder about the political preferences of Ukrainians. Moreover, it is difficult for many people to understand why Ukrainians have not mastered either Ukrainian or Polish, although they have been living in Poland for a long time.
According to the data of the Polish authorities, there are currently about 950 thousand refugees from Ukraine, and the total number of Ukrainians living in Poland is 2.3 million people.
