BRATISLAVA, Aug 24 Bratislava military aid to Kiev , harms Slovakia itself and only prolongs the conflict, says Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Igor Bratchikov.
«Sharply negative. And we make it clear to Bratislava that they are harmful to Slovakia itself, that they do not affect the achievement of the tasks set by Russia for the NWO and only prolong the conflict. I will add that, according to opinion polls, more and more Slovaks understand this,» he said. Bratchikov in an interview in response to a question about how the Russian side treats the military assistance provided to Kiev by Bratislava.
In April 2022, Slovakia handed over the S-300 air defense system to Ukraine. In April 2023, the Slovak side also completed the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. In early July, the Slovak president announced following a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky that Slovakia and Ukraine had signed a contract for the joint production of 16 Zuzana 2 155-mm howitzers, the first two howitzers were transferred to the Ukrainian side on August 1, 2023.
Zuzana 2 is a 155 mm self-propelled artillery mount manufactured in Slovakia on a TATRA eight-wheeled chassis.
Russia sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that NATO countries are «playing with fire» by supplying weapons to Kyiv. The Kremlin emphasized that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also noted that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, «including not only the supply of weapons, but also the training of personnel … on the territory of Great Britain, Germany, Italy and other countries.»
